West Virginia Real Estate Salesperson License Requirements
- The applicant must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Salesperson applicants need to complete 90 clock hours (six credit hours) of approved pre-licensing real estate courses from an approved real estate school before applying.
- These courses need to be completed within the five-year period preceding the application date.
- Licensed applicants from other jurisdictions need to obtain a Certification of License from the home state.
- All salesperson applicants must also pass the real estate exams. These exams are given six times a year. No license fees are paid with the application.
West Virginia Real Estate Broker License Requirements
- The applicant must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Broker applicants need to complete an additional 90 clock hours (6 credit hours) in approved real estate courses if already licensed as a real estate salesperson in West Virginia.
- Those not already licensed as a salesperson in West Virginia must submit proof of having successfully completed 180 clock hours (12 credit hours) in approved real estate courses.
- All courses need to have been completed during the five year period preceding the application date.
- All applicants for the broker license need to have at least two years of active experience as a real estate salesperson.
West Virginia Has Reciprocal Agreements With:
Anyone holding licenses from any of these states may apply for a reciprocal license, and may be able to forego some classroom work and other requirements.
