Maine Real Estate Salesperson License Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Applicants need to provide notarized recommendations from at least 3 persons stating that the applicant has a good reputation for truthfulness, honesty, fair dealing and competency.
  • The employing broker also needs to provide a written statement authorizing the license
  • Applicants for all agent licenses must also have a criminal records check performed before their license will be issued. The fee for this check is $21.00.
  • completing pre-licensing real estate education at an approved real estate school, passing the examinations with a grade of 75% or better, and applying for the license within one year of having passed the exams.

Maine Real Estate Broker License Requirements

  • Must complete the mandatory coursework including the 60 hour broker associate course, and pass the associate broker examinations before applying for the license.

Anyone holding licenses from any of these states may apply for a reciprocal license, and may be able to forego some classroom work and other requirements.
